Abstract

This paper explores the significant and evolving role of non-state actors in contemporary security threats. Traditionally, security studies have focused on state-centric threats, but the modern landscape has shifted to include a diverse array of non-state actors such as terrorist organizations, multinational corporations, and transnational criminal networks. These actors challenge traditional notions of security by operating across borders, exploiting technological advancements, and often circumventing conventional state responses. The paper examines various case studies to illustrate how these non-state actors influence global security dynamics. It also assesses the impact of their activities on national and international security policies and strategies. By analyzing the nature, motivations, and tactics of non-state actors, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of their role in shaping contemporary security challenges and to offer insights into effective responses and strategies for mitigating their impact
